The Prophet's SeerahQuraysh set out in the third year to avenge those killed at Badr, and the two groups met at Mount Uhud. The Muslims were about to be victorious until the archers left their positions out of desire for spoils, so the polytheists encircled them, and the Muslims were struck; the Prophet's ﷺ face was wounded, and his uncle Hamzah was martyred. Allah revealed verses to console the believers and teach them lessons of obedience and steadfastness.
