The Prophet's SeerahQuraysh, Ghatafan, and the Jews formed a confederacy to annihilate the Muslims in the fifth year, so Salman al-Farisi suggested digging a trench around Medina. The confederates besieged Medina for days in severe cold until the believers were shaken and hearts reached their throats. Allah then sent a wind and unseen soldiers, and He repelled the confederates in disappointment without major fighting.
