The Prophet's SeerahMuhammad ﷺ was born in Mecca in the Year of the Elephant, from the tribe of Quraysh, from Banu Hashim. His father Abdullah died before his birth, and his mother Aminah died while he was still young. His grandfather Abd al-Muttalib took him in, then his uncle Abu Talib, so he grew up an orphan, and Allah sheltered and cared for him. He worked as a shepherd and then in trade, and he was known among his people for truthfulness and trustworthiness.
