The Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When night falls — or when you reach the evening — keep your children close to you, for the devils spread about at that time. Then, when an hour of the night has passed, let them go, and close the doors while mentioning the Name of Allah, for Satan does not open a closed door. Tie up your water-skins while mentioning the Name of Allah, cover your vessels while mentioning the Name of Allah — even if you only place something across the top — and extinguish your lamps."
